Husband. Father. Computational biology PhD researcher.
My research subject is the extraction of biological knowledge networks from large datasets consisting of thousands of experiments and thousands of terabytes of raw data. To achieve this, I deploy a combination of classical metadata and text crawling tools combined with network-based approaches and AI (e.g., LLM-based metadata curation). Subsequently, I want to investigate the predictive power of these networks for various kinds of perturbations.
During my past and present academic career, I have assembled a solid toolbox for both scientific and general-purpose programming in several programming languages and stacks/frameworks, and I have become a maintainer of multiple open source software projects. I have taught scientific programming courses on different university levels and have been a tutor for several courses in the field of biology and bioinformatics.
